José Mourinho, 60, has thrown his hat in the ring.
AS Roma will face Sevilla FC in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) final of the 2022/23 season at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, Hungary, on June 1 (ET).
Mourinho has already brought the European trophy to Rome after winning the UEFA Conference League the previous season. This time around, he’s looking to win the Europa League for the second year in a row. Mourinho is unbeaten in five European finals, so Roma fans have faith in him. However, their opponent, Sevilla FC, is the reigning Europa League champion 메이저사이트.
“We train hard every day to make history for Roma,” Mourinho told Italian outlet Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday. Only big clubs with a great history can usually reach the final of a European competition twice in a row, and that’s what Roma have done.”
“I don’t think much about what I’ve gained in my career. The past is the past and you can’t change history that’s already been written. So I always look to the future. That’s probably the secret of my philosophy.”
Mourinho added: “I have been in football for a long time, but this final is another new final. At this point, I no longer think about what I can get, I think about the happiness I can give to the Roma fans. It’s a city that thrives on football. Being with Roma is about belonging, it’s about being part of something,” he said.
Mourinho was also asked about his long-term future as a manager. “I am not at all ready to close this chapter (retire) for the time being. I have been in football for many years and people think I am older than I am. Maybe they see my gray hair and think I’m old. But I’m not old enough to think about quitting. Many of you will still see me in the coming years,” he added.
