From the first at-bat, Choi’s bat made a difference. In the top of the second inning, with the score tied at 0-0, Choi led off with a sinker from Seth Lugo. The pitch took a 26-degree launch angle and traveled 384 feet (117 meters) at 101.7 miles (163.6 kilometers) per hour for a solo shot (his sixth of the season) over the right field fence. Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead on Choi’s home run.
Junior Kim Ha-seong was no slouch either. In his first at-bat, he led off the bottom of the first inning with a single to right field on a sinker from starter Johan Oviedo.
The matchup between Choi Ji-Man and Kim Ha-Sung is getting interesting.
