We played well in the first set. It was disappointing to lose, but I think we showed good form in practice recently. The finish was disappointing. In the second set, I think we entered the game at a slight disadvantage from the ban pick.
In the second game, we had a lot of options in the mid lane and jungle in picks two and three, and we ended up picking Nautilus and Xanthe, and we were talking about whether to pick Maokai or Nautilus. Eventually, we narrowed it down to Nautilus, so I took Nautilus. Later on, when my opponent took Maokai, we realized that their top was Renekton, so I think it would have been better to pick a champion with a fast jungle turn. I think we should have picked a champion with a fast jungle turn, such as Viego or Ivon, that wouldn’t be damaged by Renekton.
We’ll have to see how everyone fares next week, but I think a clean 2-0 win could put us in a good position, as our remaining bracket opponents are all playoff contenders, so I think we’ll have to prepare accordingly.
When I think about the reasons for the ups and downs in today’s game, I was disappointed with our banter, and I think that banter is very important nowadays, and we have to go with the flow of the banter that we have prepared, but if there is a change, if there is an anomaly in the play that we are supposed to do, I think that we often lean too much in the beginning of the game and it ends up being a waste, so I think that’s something that we will talk about a lot in the feedback.
