Worst news for the New York Mets, who have lost six straight games to fall to fourth place in the National League East. Pete Alonso, 29, is expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Sportsnet New York reported on Monday (Sept. 9) that Alonso could be placed on the disabled list after being hit in the wrist by a hard fastball. 스포츠토토
Alonso was hit in the left wrist by Charlie Morton’s 96.5 mph fastball during a road game against the Atlanta Braves on Aug. 8.
Alonso collapsed on the field after complaining of great pain. Alonso later walked himself to first base, but was eventually replaced by a pinch-hitter.
Alonso then sat out the Atlanta game on Sept. 9 to evaluate his condition. Up until this point, it appeared to be a player protection move.
However, the mention of a possible trip to the disabled list suggests that Alonso’s wrist isn’t doing well. He could use some rest.
Alonso is a powerful hitter who currently leads the major leagues in home runs with 22. While he’s struggled with accuracy, he’s always been able to get a hit.
If Alonso ends up on the disabled list, things could get even worse for the New York Mets, who have lost six straight games to fall to fourth place in the division.
